A professional-looking, resealable stand-up pouch of Bonsai Thrive 180, a time-release fertilizer specifically formulated for the specialized needs of bonsai trees.

The packaging design is split vertically. The left side has a clean, textured white background featuring the product name "BONSAI THRIVE 180" in bold, black lettering beneath an orange circular logo of a stylized crane. Below the product name, several key horticultural benefits are listed: "Long-Lasting Nutrient Supply," "Low Risk of Over-Fertilization," "NPK 19-5-9 in Every Granule," and "Improved Root Development."

The right side of the bag is a deep forest green adorned with delicate, light-green line-art illustrations of leaves and branches. A large, clear, crescent-shaped window on this side reveals the actual fertilizer inside: small, uniform, spherical granules in shades of deep indigo and light blue.

At the bottom of the pouch are icons for "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" and a green checkmark indicating the product is "Ready to Use." The weight is listed as Net Wt. 10 oz (280 g). The overall image conveys a high-quality, specialized maintenance product for bonsai enthusiasts.

A Persimmon with an Incredible Base and Plenty of Growth to Work With

This is the exact tree shown in the photos.

The base is what makes this Persimmon special. It is thick, exposed, and full of twists, folds, and unusual movement. Every angle shows something different, and the dark, textured bark makes the base look even more dramatic.

This tree has been allowed to grow. The long extensions reach in every direction and give it an impressive 30" spread, even though the tree stands only 13" tall. I have not cut it back or tried to make it look finished for the photographs. The next owner gets to decide which branches to keep, where to shorten the growth, and how compact or wide to make the future design.

There is a lot of established branching underneath the foliage, making this an interesting tree for someone who enjoys working through a tree and finding the best structure.

Persimmon is also appreciated for its seasonal flowers and fruit. The exact species and flowering history of this tree have not been confirmed, so I am not selling it as a guaranteed fruiting specimen. Flowering and fruiting can depend on the species, maturity, growing conditions, and pollination, but that possibility is still part of what makes Persimmon such an interesting bonsai subject.

The tree is planted in an 8" ceramic bonsai pot that keeps the overall composition compact and allows the extraordinary base to remain the main focus.

Seasonal Interest

Persimmon is a deciduous species with interest throughout the growing season. Depending on the exact species, maturity, pollination, and growing conditions, the tree may produce flowers followed by fruit. Its leaves can also develop fall color before dropping for winter dormancy.

This tree has not been identified to the exact species, and no flowering or fruiting history has been confirmed. Flowers and fruit should be viewed as potential seasonal features rather than a guarantee.

Photography Note

This tree was photographed on August 9, 2026. The photos show the actual tree for sale at the time of photography.

Persimmon is deciduous. Its leaves will change color and drop in the fall, and the tree will remain bare during winter dormancy before producing fresh growth in spring.

Shipping Note

This tree ships from Massachusetts. It will be watered, secured, and packed carefully for shipment. Minor movement of the foliage, moss, or soil may occur during transit.

Care Note

Persimmon bonsai must be grown outdoors. Give the tree plenty of sunlight, good airflow, and thorough watering whenever the soil begins approaching dryness. Do not allow the root system to dry out completely.

Persimmon requires a cold winter dormancy. Protect the pot and root system during severe winter weather, especially from drying winds and repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
