A professional-looking, resealable stand-up pouch of Bonsai Thrive 180, a time-release fertilizer specifically formulated for the specialized needs of bonsai trees.

The packaging design is split vertically. The left side has a clean, textured white background featuring the product name "BONSAI THRIVE 180" in bold, black lettering beneath an orange circular logo of a stylized crane. Below the product name, several key horticultural benefits are listed: "Long-Lasting Nutrient Supply," "Low Risk of Over-Fertilization," "NPK 19-5-9 in Every Granule," and "Improved Root Development."

The right side of the bag is a deep forest green adorned with delicate, light-green line-art illustrations of leaves and branches. A large, clear, crescent-shaped window on this side reveals the actual fertilizer inside: small, uniform, spherical granules in shades of deep indigo and light blue.

At the bottom of the pouch are icons for "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" and a green checkmark indicating the product is "Ready to Use." The weight is listed as Net Wt. 10 oz (280 g). The overall image conveys a high-quality, specialized maintenance product for bonsai enthusiasts.

Rare Dwarf Bluebell Bonsai with Fragrant Purple-Blue Flowers

This is a really cool tree, and not something we get very often.

Dwarf Bluebell, Trifidacanthus unifoliolatus, is a somewhat uncommon tropical bonsai species known for vibrant purple-blue flowers and an incredibly sweet fragrance. The flowers are one of the big reasons bonsai people love this species. When it blooms, the scent is often compared to grape soda. It is hard to describe until you smell one, but once you do, you remember it.

This particular tree came to us on a trade several months ago. It already has a thick, old-looking trunk, a lot of branch structure, and plenty of new growth pushing throughout the canopy. It has the kind of character that is difficult to manufacture quickly.

I also noticed after taking the photographs that I should have removed the long branch growing across the front of the tree. I will trim that before it ships. The photographs otherwise show the exact tree you are purchasing.

This is a great addition for someone who already has the usual Ficus, Jade, Elm, and Juniper and wants something a little different.

About Dwarf Bluebell

Dwarf Bluebell is one of those species that gets a lot more interesting once you see it flower. The foliage is small enough to work well in bonsai, it branches readily, and then you get the added bonus of those purple-blue flowers and the fragrance.

It is a tropical species, so in colder climates it should be protected from freezing temperatures. Give it strong light, warmth, and good air circulation during the growing season. Like most tropical bonsai, it responds best when it is actively growing and getting plenty of light.

What to Expect

The tree is actively growing and may continue to extend before it ships. I will remove the long branch crossing the front of the tree that I should have caught before taking the photographs. Other than that cleanup, this is the exact tree shown.

Flowers and buds are seasonal and can change quickly, so the tree may or may not be blooming when it arrives. The underlying trunk, branch structure, and Yixing pot are exactly what you are purchasing.

Please Note

All trees are sold as-is. All sales are final - no refunds, returns, or exchanges. Once the tree leaves our nursery, care is your responsibility. Have questions? Just reach out - we're happy to help.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
